Richard Palalay’s travels around the world as one of Princess Cruises’ top solo pianists included circumnavigation of the globe on Island Princess in 1996. He states “that no matter where I am in the world, when I am at the piano, My Heart is Home” (the title of his debut album).

A traveler since the age of 10 months, Richard attended high school on Okinawa and graduated from the University of California. Currently residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, he has sailed extensively around the world for the past 11 years on several Princess ships. From solo pianist and bandleader to a showroom headliner, Richard was consistently a featured performer for the cruise line. He has also served as musical director and keyboardist with the Las Vegas show, Legends in Concert, as well as several of Hawaii’s top performers.

He recently returned from a stint as bandleader at the Shangri-la Golden Sands Resort on Penang Island, Malaysia. Richard is currently performing at Nordstrom in Scottsdale’s Fashion Square as solo pianist and with his trio, Trio Three-Eighty. In addition to numerous solo appearances around the Phoenix-Scottsdale area, he and his trio are a regular feature at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale’s acclaimed “Harmony for Mayo” concert series.

Richard and his wife Joanne, who is from Liverpool, England, love to travel they met on the original Love Boat, Pacific Princess and look forward to visiting the remaining places in the world they haven’t been to yet.
