Dr. Eric Daub has his Ph.D. and M.M. of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and is currently Associate Professor and Director of Piano Studies at Texas Lutheran University. Eric has put together a stunning collection of music of the masters, compositions which he has chosen not only for their popularity, but as he states, for "their personal significance. Picture, if you will, an island in the Puget Sound of the Pacific Northwest. An island with towering old-growth forests, lakes, streams, waterfalls, abundant wildlife, and incomparable views of the surrounding San Juan Islands. Beyond are distant mountain views – British Columbia to the north, Vancouver Island to the west, the Cascade Mountains to the east, and the grand Olympic Mountains to the south. Such an island, is Orcas Island, the home of Pure & Simple Music.

I came to the island for a week in the heart of spring and recorded these pieces on six clear nights when countless stars were shining brightly overhead and the wind was blowing gently through the evergreens. It seems a perfect setting for the piano music of such masters as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, and Schumann; a setting that each composer would no doubt approve of.

While the term “classical” is used in a variety of ways in reference to music, I attach this label to this music because it is music in the highest order; embodying qualities that have survived the test of time and will endure in the hearts of human-kind for centuries to come. Each piece was chosen by virtue of public popularity and it personal significance to myself, the pianist. it is not virtuosic music. It is, purely and simply, beautiful music that merits the title “classical.” When you listen to Pianoforte Opus 2, you are hearing the music of the masters, performances inspired by and recorded in the incredible peace and beauty of Orcas Island.

I would like to personally thank Jaylin and Christopher Peacock for making me a part of Pure & Simple Music, my wife Dale for her love and support, and my daughter Tatiana for being the inspiration of my heart.
